A label changing hands
Selling a clothing business? License the design archive too
When a clothing business is sold or closes, seasons of prints, tech packs and 3D samples usually go with the stock and the name. Licensed separately, the archive can earn on its own, if it is the business's to license.
Ask about my design archive 5 of the 10 textile and fashion platforms we read leave the designs with the customer. Tell us where your archive lives and we will write back about it.
Three questions before the archive is offered
Does the platform leave it with you: on our board 5 of 10 vendors say so in their terms. Do you own the designs in law: a UK employee's design belongs to the employer, a freelancer's may not. Was any print licensed in from someone else.

Take the archive out before accounts are closed: World Fashion Exchange deletes customer data permanently when the service ends.

Three routes for a label's archive
A trading label can license the archive and keep selling. A closing business can sell it through its directors, administrator or trustee. An adviser running the sale can introduce it for a share of our fee. Tell us which describes you on the textile data enquiry form.
